In the pictures, Avant posed with several music icons, including Jay-Z, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Pharell Williams, Lionel Richie, and the late Whitney Houston. There were also heartwarming snaps of the deceased and his wife.

This emotional slideshow was captioned with the “Diary of a Mad Black Woman” producer’s love and respect for the North Carolina native. The Primetime Emmy Award winner began his lengthy message with his thoughts on “soulmates.”

“I believe that when two soulmates walk the earth together for many, many years, be it through marriage or friendship or both when one of them passes on the soul that’s left on the planet longs for that love, that companionship, that connection,” the father of one explained.

According to the New Orleans native, as he reflected on Avant’s passing, all he could consider was the “beauty of him being reunited with his soulmate Jacqueline.” Perry noted that the thought of the couple together made his “heart smile.”

Addressing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honoree’s legacy, the 53-year-old claimed it was impossible to find a corner of the music industry that was not positively impacted by the deceased. Confident in his words, the filmmaker challenged anyone to find contradicting proof of the media personality’s immense achievements.

“His legacy will live on the top shelf because that’s how high he set the bar. And like every great legend, he left us with something to reach up for,” Perry wrote of the beloved Black Godfather.

Giving his final goodbye, the playwright concluded, “You have done all you were supposed to do here, my friend, and we are all the better for it. Travel well, sir. Sending my heartfelt love to Nicole, Alex, Ted, and everyone in the family.”

As stated above, the Grammy icon took his final breath in his Los Angeles home at 92. The entertainer’s family announced the heartbreaking news via a poignant statement. “It is with a heavy heart that the Avant/Sarandos family announce the passing of Clarence Alexander Avant,” their message began.

“Through his revolutionary business leadership, Clarence became affectionately known as ‘the Black Godfather’ in the worlds of music, entertainment, politics, and sports,” the announcement continued, noting that the father of two left behind a sea of loved ones that will continue to carry his memory.

“The joy of his legacy eases the sorrow of our loss. Clarence passed away gently at home in Los Angeles on Sunday, August 13, 2023,” the deceased’s family concluded their statement.
