Triple H, others pay tribute to late WWE star Jay Briscoe
Two-time Ring of Honor World Champion Jay Briscoereal name Jamin Pugh, died at the age of 38. The wrestler died earlier this week in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware.
All Elite Wrestling (AEW) founder Tony Khan announced the death of the wrestling legend on Twitter. Friends and colleagues have since written messages of condolence in honor of the late star.
Jay, who made his wrestling debut alongside his brother Mark Briscoe in Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW), is survived by his wife and four children.

“She Was a Star”

Based on PeopleJay died in a car accident at the age of 38. The publication noted All Elite Wrestling (AEW) founder Tony Khan’s tweet announcing the wrestling legend’s death.
“Unfortunately, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show to the present day,” the Ring of Honor owner wrote.
Also in his post, Khan praised the late professional wrestler and his brother Mark for “dominating ROH as champions to this day.” He went on to say that he and his company will “fully support” the Briscoe family during this challenging time.
Dave Meltzer, a wrestling journalist, tweeted more information about the accident that killed Briscoe.
“Tony Khan tweeted about the death of Jay Briscoe in a car accident. Two people in the car were killed in a crash at 5:30 p.m. in Laurel, Maryland. Just terribly tragic news,” Meltzer said, before later making a correction: “Correction on Jay Briscoe crash site, Laurel was in Delaware, not Maryland.”
Friends and colleagues mourn the death of Jay Briscoe

Jay’s fellow wrestlers, both male and female, took to social media to mourn his death.
“I am deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Jay Briscoe. He was always the nicest to me during my time in ROH. My heart goes out to the whole family” read a post from former AEW CEO Brandi Rhodes.

Retired professional wrestler and WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H wrote a touching note to Briscoe’s family and friends.
SHE said, “An incredible performer who has created a deep connection with wrestling fans around the world. My condolences to the family and friends of Jay Briscoe.”
Sami Zayn also reflected on his relationship with the late star and his brother, mentioning their great time together in the ring.
The WWE star noted, per People, “Now I have no words to adequately convey my grief. I love Jay and Mark Briscoe. I’m so lucky to have shared the ring and shared so many laughs with Jay Briscoe, and I’m so sad to know none of that will happen again. RIP my friend.”
Schools were closed for the day in honor of Jay Briscoe

It is not yet clear if any of Jay’s family members were in the car with him at the time of the crash, as the family has not yet released any further details.
To mourn Jay’s death, the school district where his daughters are closed for the day.
“Due to the unimaginable tragedy that occurred in our community tonight, the Laurel School District will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Schools will reopen on Thursday. Please keep the Pugh family in your thoughts and prayers,” the district said in a statement Wrestling news.
Jay Briscoe is survived by his wife and four children

The wrestler rarely shared information about his family on social media and kept his personal life private. In early 2022, he actually posted a picture of his wife and kids.
The said picture was taken at Easter and shows his wife and his three children at the time, a son and two daughters. The wrestler’s brother Mark and his own children were also in the picture.

Additionally, Jay’s Twitter pictures show that he welcomed a boy named Murphy in June 2022.
“We have a baby folks!!! Murphy’ Big Murph’ Pugh arrived a month and a half early but is getting stronger by the day. wrote. “Appreciate the continued prayers and positivity.”
