Tiffany Haddish Got Served At A Comedy Show With $1M Lawsuit

Tiffany Haddish was served with legal papers during her comedy event in Los Angeles, enabling her former friend Trizah Morris to proceed with a $1 million defamation lawsuit.

Morris, who had a close relationship with Haddish from 2011 to 2020, accused the comedian of grooming her children and having them participate in sexually inappropriate skits filmed in 2014.

Although Morris’s adult children dropped their lawsuit last year, Morris pursued her own case, claiming slanderous statements by Haddish and Aries Spears damaged her reputation. She requested a seven-figure sum in damages.

Tiffany Haddish, during her hosting of a comedy event in Los Angeles, was served with legal papers by a process server. This development allows her former friend, Trizah Morris, to advance her $1 million lawsuit against the comedian.

Court documents obtained by Radar Online revealed that this took place on August 28, 2023, at the Laugh Factory on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, where Haddish was hosting an event with young comedians.

The process server successfully delivered the legal paperwork to the “Girls Trip” actress or her representative at the comedy club’s side entrance around 6:45 PM.

Morris, who had a close relationship with Haddish from 2011 to 2020, filed a defamation lawsuit against the comedian and Aries Spears last month. In the legal file, Morris clarified that she had no relationship with Spears and mentioned that Haddish was like family to her children, who affectionately called her “Auntie Tiff.”

However, per Radar, Morris’ lawsuit revolved around skits filmed by her children with Haddish and Spears when they were minors in 2014. Morris accused the “Girls Trip” actress of grooming her kids and having them participate in sexually inappropriate skits, including one where her minor daughter simulated oral sex and another involving a pedophile skit with her son.

Last year, her adult children dropped their lawsuit alleging child sexual abuse, with both comedians denying any wrongdoing and deeming it an extortion attempt. Morris’ daughter later expressed her family’s support for Haddish, stating, “My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years – and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us. We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”

Haddish, who had kept a lower profile in recent months, also faced a lawsuit from Morris regarding comments made by Haddish and Spears after her children filed their own lawsuit. Morris alleged that Haddish and Spears referred to her as an extortionist.

In 2022, Haddish’s lawyer stated that Morris had been attempting to assert baseless claims against Haddish “for several years.”

According to Radar, he emphasized, “Every attorney who has initially taken on her case — and there were several — ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down. Now, Ms. Morris has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action.”

In the suit, Morris asserted that the comedians and their representatives had made damaging, slanderous statements that adversely affected her reputation, resulting in online accusations of being a con artist.

To clear her name, she claimed to have contacted Haddish’s lawyer in February, requesting a statement refuting the extortion allegations. Haddish allegedly personally called her on March 7, 2023, promising to address the issue if it arose during her upcoming press tour.

“The media isn’t talking about it right now. I have four movies coming out this year and I am going to be doing a lot of press. If it comes up, I’ll be sure to mention it,” Haddish allegedly promised, per Radar.

However, Morris later discovered that Haddish had spoken negatively about her in an interview during the tour. As a result, she is seeking a seven-figure sum in damages from the defendants due to the harm she endured.
