‘The Regime’ Teaser: Kate Winslet is a desperate power-hungry leader

“The Queen” Oscar nominee Stephen Frears directs the series formerly known as “The Palace.”

Kate Winslet is power hungry and desperate for control – in a funny way.

HBO’s dark comedy “The Regime” stars the Emmy-winning “Mare of Easttown” as an authoritarian leader who struggles to hold on to his empire as his regime begins to unravel. The year-long “The Regime,” formerly known as “The Palace,” is executive produced by Winslet and “Succession” producer and writer Will Tracy, who also serves as executive producer of the series.

Oscar nominee Stephen Frears (“The Queen”) will executive produce and direct “The Regime,” Winslet’s fourth collaboration with HBO.

Joining the previously announced cast of Winslet, Matthias Schoenaerts, Guillaume Gallienne, Andrea Riseborough, Martha Plimpton and Hugh Grant, newly announced cast members include Danny Webb, David Bamber, Henry Goodman, Stanley Townsend, Louie Mynett, Rory Keenan, Karl Markovics. and Pippa Haywood.

Will Tracy serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner. Executive producers are Winslet, Frears, Frank Rich and Tracey Seaward. Hobbs serves as co-executive producer, and writers include Seth Reiss, Juli Weiner, Jen Spyra, Gary Shteyngart and Sarah DeLappe.

Winslet previously starred in HBO’s “Mare of Easttown” and “Mildred Pierce.” His other ongoing HBO collaboration is the upcoming limited series “The Trust,” based on the novel of the same name by Hernan Diaz. Winslet will also executive produce the series, about a wealthy financier who reads a book based on his won life and, dissatisfied with his portrayal of himself and his wife, enlists a secretary to write his memoir and set the record straight… word rewrites history according to

Winslet recently addressed a possible “Easttown Mare” season 2, explaining that while the team “feels extremely proud” of the limited series, the second season needs to “evolve.”

“The Regime” will premiere linearly on HBO as well as the Max streaming service in 2024.
