The Disneyland Railroad is changing after Splash Mountain closes
Splash Mountain for both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort is permanently closed to Guests after the company decided to re-theme the attraction a “The Princess and the Frog”– themed attraction that promotes the admission of the parks.
It was an attraction at Splash Mountain Disney Parks several years ago and based on the film “Song of the South” which is highly controversial as many consider it racist. The 1946 film mixes live action and animation, featuring an older African-American plantation worker, Uncle Remus, who tells stories to a young white boy. Groups including the NAACPprotested against the first release of the film.
Now that the ride is officially closed, another Disneyland attraction is making a difference.
Disneyland Railroad Discontinues Splash Mountain Audio

Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park officially closed to guests on Tuesday, May 31st, meaning its last day of operation was Monday, May 30th.
Now that the ride is closed for good, the Disneyland Railroad is changing the tone of the ride.
Previously, the soundtrack mentioned Splash Mountain as the train passed the iconic attraction, but that part has now been removed and the ride instead mentions Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the new “Princess and the Frog” themed attraction at Disneyland. 2024.
Previous narration, by Bob Joles, included: “We now enter Splash Mountain, rumored to be the site of the one and only Laughin’ Place. If you look hard enough, you might find it. This is where the creatures celebrate “zip-a-dee-doo-dah” day. Speaking of creatures, this place we’re going through is home to a bunch of them.

Now the audio reads: “We are now entering the bayou that will soon be home to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Princess Tiana swears there’s magic here, and where there’s magic, there’s sure to be surprises. Blue skies and sunshine are guaranteed. Speaking of surprises, this place we’re going through is full of them.”
A similar change was made at the Walt Disney World Railroad after Splash Mountain closed at the Magic Kingdom earlier this year.
According to Disney, the story of the new “Princess and the Frog” attraction continues after the movie’s final kiss, as guests join Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure “that features powerful music from the movie — as they prepare for their first Mardi Gras performance.” “
