‘Shrinking’ Trailer: Harrison Ford, Jason Segel Lead Apple TV Series

“Ted Lasso” and “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence’s series premieres Jan. 27 on Apple TV+.

Harrison Ford toured the world as Indiana Jones, but it wasn’t until last year that the movie star explored uncharted territory – episodic television – when the Yellowstone prequel 1923 premiered on Paramount+ in December. But Ford already has a new TV series, “Shrinking,” coming a month later, and just over a week before the series premieres, Apple TV+ released the full trailer from the Television Critics Association’s winter press tour. conference.

“Shrinking” stars Jason Segel as James, a therapist at a cognitive-behavioral center reeling from the death of his beloved wife and struggling to be there for his patients. When it clicks with a patient (played by “SNL” cast member Heidi Gardner) that she needs to leave her emotionally abusive husband in order to get positive results, James decides that the best way to help others is to tell them exactly what you think Ignoring the concerns of his colleagues and friends (played by Ford and Jessica Williams), James begins to ignore his training and ethics and directly intervenes in the lives of his patients, affecting their well-being as well as his own.

Segel created “Shrinking” with “Ted Lasso” head Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, who stars on “Lasso” and wrote several episodes of the series. Judging by the trailer, which is set to Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness (Nightmare),” the series bears many hallmarks of Lawrence’s work, such as “Scrubs,” which combines a heartwarming tone and goofy acting with more serious themes. sorrow and death.

In addition to Segel, Ford and Williams, Shrinking also stars Christa Miller as James’ neighbor, Luke Tennie as James’ patient, Lukita Maxwell as James’ daughter, and Michael Urie. The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television, where Lawrence is under general contract, and Lawrence’s Doozer Productions. Lawrence, Segel and Goldstein are executive producing with Neil Goldman, Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. The first episode was written by Lawrence, Segel and Goldstein, while James Ponsoldt is executive producing.

In addition to “Shrinking,” Lawrence also has another series, “Bad Monkey,” starring Vince Vaughn, which is expected to premiere on Apple TV+ later this year. A third (and potentially final) season of “Ted Lasso” is also expected to air sometime this year after the mega-popular series’ second season wrapped in October 2021.

The first two episodes of “Shrinking” debuted on January 27. Watch the series trailer.
