Savannah Chrisley Gets honest about her take on the idea of marriage
Savannah Chrisley gets candid about her insecurities about marriage and the impact of her parents’ incarceration.
Ever since his parents — Todd & Julie — reported to federal prisons earlier this year to serve sentences for wire and bank fraud and tax evasion, the podcaster has no doubt felt the pressure to figure out his future from all angles. On Tuesday, the reality star expressed her concerns about putting her life on hold for marriage rather than having children.
Savannah Chrisley says the thought of marriage scares her more than children
In the latest episode of her podcast, “Unlocked with Savannah Chrisley,” the 25-year-old beauty opened up about her feelings and discussed her fears about starting a family. Starting the sensitive topic with guest Lindsay Ell, he admitted that he had doubts about tying the knot.
Chrisley then pointed to the societal pressures of living in the southern region of the United States to conform to traditional expectations of marriage and childbearing. In his words:
“It’s so difficult, because you also experience this in the South (from a point of view): “You should be married. I need children. And I will say that the thought of marriage scares me more than children.

As the conversation progressed, the Belmont University alum described the difference she feels between having children and getting married. Finally, he gives several reasons why he fears the latter. Savannah stated:
“I don’t know how it could be… and this is going to sound so bad, but I think maybe it’s because kids, you’re in charge, you know?… So if I were to have kids, it’s my responsibility to have them. I take care of them and make sure they get from point A to point B. All these things.”
“But with marriage, it’s like giving a part of yourself to someone, so they have the ability to hurt you. It’s a weird thing that I’m still trying to figure out in my mind,” he added.
The “Chrisley Knows Best” star previously felt she couldn’t live a full life while her parents were serving prison terms. Last December, he told his brother Chase Chrisley’s fiancee Emmy Medders on Unlocked that he “can’t move on in life” in his thoughts. He said:
“Until I know they’ll be there, I can’t get married.” I can’t have children. … (But I know) that one day they will be a part of it.”
However, despite the absence of her parents, the actress revealed that her father encouraged her to live her life despite being physically unavailable due to his prison sentence.
Savannah Chrisley was at a crossroads about being a family woman
While her parents imprisoned her, the TV personality took on the guardianship of her niece Chloe, 10 – who her parents adopted in 2016 from her older brother Kyle and younger brother Grayson, 17.
However, this good gesture was fraught with conflicting emotions. Earlier last month, The Blast noted that the blonde beauty opened up about her feelings about taking on the responsibility.
“Right now I’m in a rage of grief. I’m just angry about everything. And even after taking on the children. I say, ‘Okay. Do I really want children? I? You know, seeing how much this all affected us?” he stated.
Despite this, the TV star admitted that her reaction came from a “place of anger” and insisted that she was not in a bad mood about taking on the important role of children. Savannah also shared that she enjoyed spending quality time with the two adorable children, whom she considered “everything.”
She went on to emphatically reveal: ‘I try to be a good adult figure in their lives, but it’s very difficult to have two children at 25 and try to figure out what’s best for them because normally you’re going to grow – as you do. one to two three to four. It’s like growing up over time. I’m just in it right now.”
