Rihanna’s halftime show compared to porn in FCC complaints
Too hot to handle? Rihanna’s Super Bowl halftime show upsets conservative viewers!
The pop culture icon needs no introduction as the Barbadian singer is an international household name. After dominating the music industry with her record-breaking hits, the 35-year-old girl took over the fashion world with her Fenty brand.
For years, the world begged for new music, and finally the baby mama fulfilled our wishes with a fantastic comeback. The entertainer wowed the audience for thirteen spectacular minutes at the 57th NFL Show.
However, what many called the event of the year was sexualized content for others. After the “Diamond” singer’s performance, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) received more than a hundred complaints from outraged viewers.

Outraged viewers flood the FCC with complaints about Rihanna’s Super Bowl performance
When it comes to stunning female musicians, the “Rude Boy” singer is on top of the list with her undeniable charms. However, being too sexy even while pregnant seems like a crime.
The critics did not spare the musician and his accompanying dancers either, when they slammed them with a pornographic halftime show. TMZ reported that the FCC, the U.S. government agency responsible for regulating television, received 103 complaints about RiRi’s halftime show.

These viewers, who seemed new to the Fenty Beauty founder’s content, claimed that her songs and choreography highly sexualized and inappropriate for young viewers. A critic from California compared the performance to Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ Grammy show, which followed the theme of Hell, which the complainant despised.
“I don’t care what anyone worships, but children shouldn’t be exposed to pornography and I don’t want to see it as an adult,” the individual whined. “Where has the decency gone? How about respect for others and yourself?”
A viewer in Utah was so offended by the “Where Have You Been” artist that he couldn’t watch it. “Halftime this year was so indecent that I had to turn off the TV because of the pornographic content,” wrote the conservative commentator.
It is important to note that Rihanna dressed modestly for the event. Unlike her previous maternity outfits, the multi-hyphenate didn’t show off her baby bump and slipped into an all-red ensemble. The same could be said of his backup dancers, who wore loose, all-white dresses.
However, their outfits did not stop critics from finding fault with the choreography and songs they deemed inappropriate. Some complaints said the dancers made gestures that were “obviously offensive and completely inappropriate for children”.
Due to her pregnancy, the headliner entrusted most of the choreography to her backup team. However, some of RiRi’s moves offended some viewers. A critic in Florida noted that the A-lister “exposed his face at the crack” and “rubbed his pants three times where his labia used to be.”

Despite receiving 103 complaints, the Savage x Fenty founder’s Super Bowl LVII show paled in comparison to Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson’s 2024 performance. After the viral wardrobe incident, the FCC reportedly received 540,000 inquiries.
The Grammy winner’s halftime show breaks Super Bowl viewership ratings records
Since its inception in 1966, the annual NFL event has become one of the most important sporting events in the United States. Per The Blast, the televised game received millions of viewers after its debut and has gathered more fans every year.
In 2010, the Super Bowl crossed the 100 million mark; however, the People’s Choice Award winner took the show to new heights with her phenomenal performance. When Rihanna took the stage on Sunday night, an average of 118.7 million viewers tuned in to the event.
These numbers proved that the Barbadian beauty attracted more people to her performance than to the NFL game. The playoffs were watched by 113 million viewers, 5.7 million less than the 35-year-old’s number. However, viewership for the game was % higher than last year as 112 million watched the event.
Additionally, the Teen Choice Award winner’s record-breaking ratings were up 15% over last year’s halftime show. An average of 103.4 million people tuned in to watch Dr. Dre perform with several other A-listers.
With her numbers, Rihanna’s halftime performance is officially the most watched show. The mother of one broke Katy Perry’s record of 114.4 million views in 2015 with her incredible viewership record.
