He said lawsuit Daily Mail, “I didn’t make it clear in the script that this was going to happen, so I think the director thought of it on his own, and then on set he asked me if I would do it, and I said no. It wasn’t a particularly great experience.”
The Oscar-winning actress also shared that she insisted on a stunt double for any scenes that featured below-the-waist nudity. “Fear” was directed by James Foley and primarily followed a 16-year-old girl (played by Witherspoon) who falls hopelessly in love with a 23-year-old sociopath.

Witherspoon explained that her time on the film made her “want to be an agent of change.” It also inspired her to “become someone who might be in a better leadership position to tell stories from a woman’s point of view rather than a man’s.”
“Fear” was one of Witherspoon’s early projects, years before she started her own production studio, Hello Sunshine. At the time, the film was hailed as a “fatal attraction for teenagers” and was very successful. It grossed over $20 million at the US box office on a budget of $6.5 million.
The two stars were romantically linked at the time, though it was unclear if anything happened between them.
