King Charles issued the eviction notice after Harry published his controversial memoir ‘Spare’. Harry made a number of shocking claims about his family in the book, including revealing that the king often joked about his paternity.

One of the most shocking revelations was Harry and William’s fight over Meghan. The Duke of Sussex claimed that he and his brother, the Prince of Wales, had a conversation in which William called Meghan a “rude”, “difficult” and “angry” person, which angered him.

The conversation soon escalated into an argument and a fight, during which William “grabbed Harry by the collar, ripped off (his) necklace and … pushed him to the ground”. Neither Charles nor William addressed any of the allegations, but it severely damaged the family’s relationship.

With their eviction, Harry and Meghan no longer have a British residence. This means the couple will need private accommodation such as a hotel if they ever fly back. Any such bill would also come out of their personal pocket as royal expenses and bills are tighter.

Based on The day, the couple will need a “private contract” with Charles to stay at any royal residence in the future. There are a number of vacant properties, including several empty flats at Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace, formerly occupied by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.

Harry and Meghan moved their family to America in 2020 due to the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. The couple have now settled in Santa Barbara with their children, and Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, is staying nearby to be close to her daughter and grandchildren.
