Porsha Williams Is Hanging Her Return To ‘RHOA’ On 1 Condition
September 1, 2023
Porsha Williams has always been about her coins and that is not changing any time soon.
Fans who had forgotten about that side of her were reminded of it when it became news that the possibility of her making a comeback to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” for its 16th season was hinged on Bravo paying her right. She had left the hit reality series after an almost ten-year run to focus on her spin-off series, “Porsha’s Family Matters.”
Porsha Williams Likely To Return To ‘RHOA’ If Her Check Bears More Zeros
Just one month after Williams revealed her openness toward returning to the “Real Housewives” franchise, a source has spilled more tea. Speaking exclusively to Entertainment Tonight, they stated:
“Bravo has been trying to get Porsha to come back to ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ for the possible cast shakeup, but she’s playing hardball. Bravo offered Porsha a lot of money to return, but she declined.”
Sharing more details on the reason behind her refusal to accept Bravo’s offer, the insider explained, “Porsha is telling friends she wants to be the highest-paid Housewife on any franchise. Porsha could return, but as of now, she and Bravo have not come to an agreement.”
As mentioned earlier, Williams had asserted that she had not entirely closed the door to the reality television show, where she reigned from 2012 till 2021. The mother-of-one shared:
“I’ve never written it off, I’ve never talked down on the show. I love what the girls are doing. I love that the brand is still as strong as it was before, and you just never know. I will say (that) I’ll never say ‘never.’”
When “The Pursuit of Porsha” author left “RHOA” ahead of its 14th season, many viewers assumed the worst, with many concluding that she “ran away” from the drama surrounding her. The speculations become so widespread that she addressed them in March, clarifying:
“I wasn’t running away. And I don’t think any of my followers who truly knew me would believe that I would run away from the show for that. I’ve dealt with a lot of harsh things on the show.”
Addressing those who accused her of leaving so she can walk down the aisle with her husband, Simon Guobadia, the 42-year-old confirmed that they were also wrong. She firmly expressed:
“I’ve been there at the beginning of every season to film with the camera on. So no, this had nothing to do with that.”
As it turned out, Williams decided to exit the series at least six months before even meeting her now-husband. Her choice was more connected to the duration of time she had spent on the show.
Since she was turning 40 and approaching her ten-year mark on “RHOA,” she felt the need to reassess her life and her aspirations, which ultimately led to her decision to leave.
The ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ Star Would Not Mind Joining Her Co-Stars In The Ongoing Strikes
Aside from tackling the issues about her life publicly, the former “Dish Nation” co-host divulged her thoughts on the possibility of advocating for better contracts and standing in solidarity with ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes within the entertainment industry.
She shared her perspective during an interview, affirming that she had no problems joining Bethenny Frankel’s demands for more stars to join the ongoing industry movements to ensure fair treatment and conditions for herself and fellow professionals. In her words:
“I can respect a lot of what Bethenny had to say, actually. I mean, why would I have any problem with her speaking up for reality stars? I just would want some of the reality stars who are currently doing that job to speak up.”
She then highlighted the difficulty that entertainers faced before liberating themselves from contracts that might exploit their image and spotlight dramatic content for entertainment purposes.
Continuing, Williams pointed out that formidable individuals like herself and Frankel strived to establish their personal brands despite the challenges posed by such contracts.
Additionally, the “Daily Pop” guest emphasized the substantial impact that reality show editors had over a cast member’s narrative, particularly within franchises like “The Real Housewives.” As she observed, producers possess the capability to manipulate how reality stars are portrayed, which could potentially harm the brands they are attempting to build.
