Prior to unveiling her natural appearance, Anderson disclosed the poignant reason behind her makeup-free choice.

In an interview with Elle, she shared that the passing of her makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, in 2019 due to breast cancer influenced her decision. “I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup ,” she explained.

Anderson has since warmly embraced the makeup-free lifestyle, describing it as “freeing, fun and a little rebellious.”

Embracing the aging process with humor, Anderson commented on how we all undergo transformations as we age. “I think we all start looking a little funny when we get older. And I’m kind of laughing at myself when I look at the mirror. I go, ‘Wow, this is really…what’s happening to me?’ It’s a journey.”

In February, the “Love, Pamela” writer was on the digital cover of Women’s Wear Daily sans make-up, complemented by a diamond tiara.

While reflecting on her choice, Anderson shared with WWD, “I really feel powerful right now when everything’s very pared down.”

During an appearance on Dax Shepard’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, she further discussed her graceful approach to aging. Addressing her iconic status and the passage of time, Anderson expressed eagerness to embrace her older self.

She explained, “I can’t wait to see myself old.”

“I always said I’d recognize myself when I was old in the mirror. I want to let my hair go kind of natural gray, put my little straw hat on, don’t wear make-up. I mean, that’s my comfortable kind of state,” Anderson added.

Long before her “Baywatch” days, Anderson revealed she received a significant gift that foreshadowed her career trajectory. In her conversation with Elle, the actress discussed her modeling work with Aritzia, which led to a story about Ruth Handler, the creator of Barbie dolls.

Anderson shared that she received one of the first Barbies from Handler, a “platinum edition doll in a red bathing suit.”

Interestingly, this early Barbie doll dressed in red sort of predicted Anderson’s future role as C.J. Parker in “Baywatch,” where the lifeguards famously sported red swimsuits.

Despite the connection, Anderson doesn’t associate herself strongly with the Barbie image. Instead, she disclosed she found more resonance with Jane Fonda’s character Barbarella from the film of the same name or her role as the titular character in “Barb Wire” from 1996.
