Shawn Johnson’s childhood school was closed

The active shooter in Nashville attended Covenant School, a private Catholic school. While Johnson’s kids don’t go to that private Catholic school. They were close enough to having their school closed.
The former Olympian took to her Instagram Story to express her fear and mixed emotions as she waited for her children to be released from lockdown. He expressed his gratitude when his children carried him home in his arms.

“I can’t breathe since I read the news and I got a call from our school saying that they were also closed due to the news. Shaking. Crying. With a broken heart. Horrible,” Johnson wrote.
“Our babies are at home with us now. I feel lucky and blessed, yet incredibly sad. No parent or family should have to deal with this.”

THE Dancing with the Stars the participant recounted what happened outside his home in Nashville.
“I saw ambulances, countless police cars, buses of children being carried to safety, parents honking their horns down the street, people running in and out of churches and schools looking for their children. Today changed me.”
The shocking scene prompted Johnson to share a prayer for the children who were shot for doing what they are supposed to do Monday through Friday, going to school and learning. And those adults who chose the teaching profession or work in another capacity in the school system.

“So far; 3 children and 2 adults have died,” he wrote. “Let’s pray for the families whose babies won’t come home from school today, and for the families who lost a piece of themselves,” the medalist continued.
“I pray for the children and adults who witnessed the horrific acts of violence committed today: Jesus, please be near.”
Mass shooting at a private Catholic school this week

The now-deceased shooter, identified as Audrey Hale (who was identified as transgender and named Aiden), opened fire on a school with a rifle.
Since the incident, a video has been released of the killer stalking the corridors, ready to shoot innocent victims. By the end of the tirade, three 9-year-old children and three school employees, a guardian, a teacher and a principal had been murdered. The massacre lasted 14 minutes before police entered the school and apprehended the shooter, resulting in his death.
Johnson continued to send tributes to the victims and their families via IG Stories. He shared the names of the victims; “Evelyn, Hallie, William, Cynthia, Katherine, mike” in one post. Authorities identified the victims as Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs and Williams Kinney, along with custodian Mike Hill, 61, substitute teacher Cynthia Peak, 61, and principal Katherine Koonce, 60.
Johnson also shared an inspirational quote about Nashville. “A friend of mine said it best…Nashville is so much more than a city, it’s a family. Every single person is separated by two grades, they know each other, pray for each other, go to church together.”
