Prince Jackson Marks His Dad’s 65th Posthumous Birthday
Commemorating Michael Jackson’s 65th posthumous birthday, his son Prince took to Instagram to share a nostalgic snapshot of the iconic pop figure.
The image captured the King of Pop adorned in an all-black attire comprising a button-down shirt and leather pants. His trademark black hair cascaded down as he sported sunglasses.
With Bigi in his arms, the “Billie Jean” singer was flanked by Paris and Prince, who were seemingly engaged in baking activities in the foreground. In his heartfelt caption,
Prince said, “Happy birthday dad. I miss you and love you. You may be gone but not forgotten. You’re in our hearts each and every (sic) day.”
Growing up in the limelight as the children of the “Thriller” singer, Prince, 26, Paris, 25, and Bigi, 21, have been under public scrutiny. Following Jackson’s passing in 2009, the pressure on the siblings increased, with Paris delivering an unplanned speech at her father’s funeral at just 11 years old.
Fans Join Prince To Celebrate The Late Singer
Prince’s Instagram comment section overflowed with affection and encouragement from fans of his late father.
One follower penned, “He will never be forgotten by those who loved him and still truly love him, I always remember your birthday Micheal Jackson, you for me are alive here inside my heart and of many.”
Another fan expressed, “Happy Birthday to an amazing man and arguably the best musician of all time.” A third person wrote, “Prince, rest assured that your father is and always will be very much loved. Happy birthday, Michael.”
Amid an outpouring of tributes for the late Michael, one user appreciated the shared picture, writing, “I love that you posted this pic – it’s always been my favorite one of the whole family.”
In a sincere piece of advice, a fan conveyed, “Prince, always follow his teachings and selflessness, I know you will. Never distort yourself, always be yourself. A big hug from a big fan of dad.”
The Jackson Siblings Share A Close Bond
While each sibling now pursues their individual endeavors, their close bond persists. Paris, stepping into her father’s musical legacy, has ventured as a singer-songwriter. She has contributed to multiple bands, unveiling EPs and a complete solo album titled “Wilted” in 2020. Notably, she graced the stage at the 2023 Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee.
In 2021, Prince noted that their relationship transcends traditional sibling roles.
“At this point in our life, it doesn’t really feel like there’s that hierarchy of, ‘I’m the older brother,’” he shared, per People. “We’re all siblings, and we’re kind of all on that same level.”
Despite busy schedules, the siblings prioritize spending time together. Prince emphasized the significance of these shared moments, stating, “Any moment that I get to spend with my siblings now, especially as we’re getting older and our own lives are starting to blossom and grow, every moment that I get with them, any little family dinner, any family outing, is really a special moment.”
Prince & Paris Honor Michael Jackson At The Tony’s
Last October, Prince and Paris made an appearance at the Radio City Music Hall to present a performance by the cast of “MJ: The Musical,” a Broadway production showcasing Michael Jackson’s 25 greatest hits.
The two siblings honored their late father at the Tony Awards ceremony as “MJ: The Musical” secured four wins out of the ten it was nominated for. It took home the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical, Best Choreography, Best Sound Design of a Musical, and Best Lighting Design of a Musical.
At the ceremony, Prince acknowledged their father’s impact on music, saying, “A lot of people seem to think our dad, Michael Jackson, changed popular music forever. And who are we to disagree?”
He continued, per Today, “But what people may not know is he loved musicals, on film and on the stage. That’s why we are so incredibly honored to introduce the night’s first nominee for best musical, ‘MJ,’ which, using many of his iconic hits, looks at the complexities and brilliance of our father’s process.”
