Madonna’s older brother left due to a combination of health issues

More than a month after Madonna’s oldest brother Anthony Ciccone went to be with the angels, the cause of his death has been revealed.

The Queen of Pop needs no introduction, given that she is a cultural icon. The 64-year-old is widely recognized for changing the music industry with her aesthetic and chart-topping songs.

However, being one of the world’s finest musicians did not spare the entertainer from life’s difficulties. The Michigan-born woman lost her brother in February, a shocking death caused by many issues.

according to the death certificate obtained by TMZ, the “La Isla Bonita” singer’s brother died of various health problems. Among these problems was oropharyngeal cancer, a disease usually caused by smoking.

In Anthony’s case, smoking contributed to his death. However, the death of the singer’s brother was caused by respiratory failure and throat cancer.

The deceased, aged 66, died while being treated at a Michigan nursing facility in February. According to the news portal, the 24-time ASCAP Pop Award winner paid his brother’s hospital bills during his time there.

The presenter’s actions proved that the 64-year-old had a forgiving heart, as she did not have the best relationship with Anthony. Her brother had previously recorded her slamming the media personality along with other members of their family.

However, in her final moments, the 7-time Grammy winner let go of the past and stood by her beloved siblings. Two days before his death, the older brother took drastic measures.

Anthony asked for the feeding/breathing tubes to be removed, despite understanding the severity of his condition and the implications of this step for his health. In addition, the death certificate bore Madonna’s name. However, the woman in the document was not the shows, but her mother, who bore the same nickname.

As for the last rites of the deceased, the file revealed that the brother of the “Like a Virgin” artist was cremated after his death. The late Anthony didn’t have an easy life, reportedly struggling with alcoholism and homelessness before his death.

Following his death, Madonna paid tribute to her older brother in an emotional post. Per The Blast, the mother of six posted a throwback to her Instagram Story about her younger self at a party with her late brother. In the black and white picture, the ‘Who’s That Girl’ star drew an arrow to help fans identify Anthony in the crowd.

Underneath the photo, a poignant message from the TV personality appeared, highlighting his adoration for the deceased. “Thank you for blowing my mind as a young girl and introducing me to Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Buddhism, Taoism, Charles Bukowski, Richard Brautigan, Jack Kerouac, Expansive Thinking Outside the Box,” the Michigan native wrote. “You planted many important seeds.”

Before the “Hung Up” singer shared her sweet dedication to Anthony, her brother-in-law Joe Henry took to Instagram to announce the tragic news. Madonna’s sister Melanie’s husband shared a black and white photo of the deceased alongside the unfortunate update.

In the long caption, Henry talked about his long-term relationship with the deceased. The “Shanghai Surprise” actress’ brother-in-law noted that he had known Anthony since he was 15, describing him as a “complex character” who would be greatly missed.
