August 30, 2023
LeBron James‘ son, Bronny James, is making progress in his recovery.
After suffering a cardiac arrest last month, he is reportedly one step closer to returning to the court. Despite facing hurdles on his journey, the young prodigy is not letting anything stop him from achieving his dream of playing the game of basketball.
Bronny James Has Taken Another Step Forward In His Recovery
According to USC basketball coach Andy Enfield, the 18-year-old is recovering and back to classes after the unfortunate event that occurred during practice. In his words:
“The good thing is he’s doing extremely well and he’s in class right now. And we all love him. I think everybody is hopeful that Bronny will return to the court. We just have to be patient and take it step by step.”
In a report by ESPN, the James family released a statement on Friday, revealing that a congenital heart defect likely led to Bronny’s cardiac arrest. They also expressed confidence in his complete recovery through treatment.
Enfield emphasized their aim to provide comprehensive support for his academic and athletic pursuits while patiently navigating his return. He also mentioned that the pitch to the basketball player and his family was no different from other recruits. He highlighted James’ excellent basketball skills and potential for contributing to the team’s success.
ICYMI, The Blast reported that after suffering cardiac arrest on July 24, Bronny was hospitalized at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and discharged three days later. The famous family’s spokesperson told PEOPLE that the sixth McDonald’s All-American’s condition was stable, moving him from the ICU.
The medical center later released a statement on its website, confirming his progress in the recovery phase. The lengthy message read:
“Thanks to the swift and effective response by the USC athletics’ medical staff, Bronny James was successfully treated for a sudden cardiac arrest. He arrived at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center fully conscious, neurologically intact, and stable. Mr. James was cared for promptly by highly-trained staff and has been discharged home, where he is resting. Although his workup will be ongoing, we are hopeful for his continued progress and are encouraged by his response, resilience, and his family and community support.”
It is worthwhile to note that James, an incoming USC freshman, has gained considerable recognition as a four-star recruit due to his impressive basketball talents.
LeBron James Speaks Out Following Son Bronny’s Incident
The renowned basketball player broke his silence following the young adult’s health emergency. The entrepreneur used Twitter and Instagram to convey a message to those concerned about the family during this challenging period.
The statement read, “I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers. We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us!”
Fans and colleagues expressed concern and affection for the James Family. Corporations like the NBA, McDonald’s All-American Games, NFL, American Heart Association, and others demonstrated their love and support through retweets and messages.
When the emergency occurred, the family’s representative confirmed it via a statement that began in part, “Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest.
The medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in the ICU.” They requested privacy and expressed gratitude to “USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”
According to sources, a 911 call came from the school’s Galen Center, the team’s practice and game venue. The teenager was then transported to the hospital by ambulance with lights and sirens, indicated by the Code 3 status, showing the seriousness of the emergency.
The cause of his cardiac arrest remained uncertain at the time. CNN also mentioned that the former Miami City Ballers player had undergone a cardiac screening a few months ago as part of a program for aspiring NBA players.
