Lea Michele is celebrating her ex-boyfriend and former “Glee” co-star on the 10th anniversary of his tragic death. Michele posted an emotional tribute Monteith on Instagram, and writes that it’s “just like yesterday” since he passed away. The former couple also dated on the show and were still together when she died of an alcohol and heroin overdose.

In the tribute, he wrote: “Hi! 10 years. It feels like you were here only yesterday and yet a million years ago at the same time. I keep all our memories in my heart, where they will stay safe and never be forgotten. We miss you every day and will never forget the light you brought to all of us. I miss you big boy.”

Michele’s tribute post included a black-and-white photo of her happily snuggling with Monteith. In her message, the Broadway actress also apparently referenced Taylor Hawkins, the famous Foo Fighters drummer. Hawkins died in 2022 of a cardiovascular collapse apparently aggravated by a cocktail of drugs.

Michele ended her tribute by adding, “I hope you found Taylor up there and drumming along.”

Michele has paid tribute to Monteith on social media every year since his tragic death. Shortly after she died in 2013, the “Scream Queens” actress spoke to her Teen Vogue about how he dealt with the loss.

She said: “I kind of feel like the crazy love that Cory and I had for each other has become the strength that I have now. There’s just something about knowing that he’s watching everything I do, and he feels like I have to do everything now, not just for myself, but for him.”

The actress shared that she is grateful to have a “safety net” in the form of her family and friends. Michele added: “If I fall or if it’s too much, my friends and family will be there to catch me.”

He got tattoos in His honor

In 2016, Michele revealed to the world that she got a tattoo in memory of Monteith. The tattoo was a drawing of the “Monte Carlo” actor’s soccer jersey number from the show. He wrote, “To my quarterback… #5” and added a heart emoji, per People magazine.

About three years later, the Broadway actress revealed that she did another tattoo honoring Monteith. This time the tattoo on her upper thigh was simply ‘Finn’. Michele herself has been doing very well in her personal and professional life since the end of the show. She is currently married to businessman Zandy Reich and they have a two-year-old son, Ever.

During her professional career, Michele made a name for herself on the Broadway stage. The actress currently stars as Fanny Brice in the revival of Funny Girl. The musical first premiered in 1964 and starred the iconic Barbra Streisand.

In addition to Monteith’s death, two other characters from the TV series also died tragically. Actress Naya Rivera, who played Santana Lopez, has died after drowning in Lake Piru, California.

The actress was initially reported missing, but it was finally confirmed that her body was found in the river after days of searching. His death was ruled an accident after an investigation revealed that Rivera had exhausted himself while trying to save his son.

Another star of the series, Mark Salling, who played Noah Puckerman, committed suicide. Salling’s death followed charged with possession of child sexual abuse material to which he pleaded guilty in 2017.

Finally, he committed suicide in January 2018, before the sentencing, which was supposed to be held in March of that year.
