“I was sitting outside reading all your DMs about my last post,” Richards noted. “It seems like a lot of people have similar stories and want to walk that path but don’t know how. We are so programmed to think we need to drink when we go out to socialize. Many of us are just on autopilot. And many of us are used to not being fully present these days.”
She shared words of encouragement with her fans and followers who might want to walk the same path but haven’t taken the first step yet.
“There are plenty of things you can order that taste better than alcohol, are better for your body, and don’t leave you feeling gross and guilty,” Richards wrote. “Plus, being fully present and aware of everything you say and do feels good.”

“As someone who has always struggled with anxiety, I was amazed to find myself surprisingly calm in situations that would normally trigger anxiety. It’s safe to say it’s a win-win for me,” Richards concluded.

Richards, 54, recently shared her milestone achievement with her millions of followers on Instagram. She posted a glowing selfie of herself in a black singlet and brown cowboy hat, sporting a pouting smile as she reflected on the challenges she’s faced along the way.
“Today marks a year without alcohol for me,” Richards began. “I concluded from several things that I didn’t want to drink. First of all, I didn’t feel like it was a place I wanted to be.”

The reality star noted that she had to make the decision to stop drinking because “I knew it wasn’t serving me physically, mentally or spiritually anymore,” before sharing that the process was “a lot easier than I thought it would be.”
“I never put a time frame on when I will drink again, or say IF I ever drink. I know I’ve never felt better physically or mentally,” Richards continued. “I’ve learned that I still overshare, but at least I don’t have the ‘anxiety’ when I think about it. I learned that sometimes I still do stupid things and I beat myself up about it.
The stunt star noted that his decision was “opposed by some”, but he did not throw in the towel, noting that his peers were “mostly supportive”.
