Kristen Bell is launching a new comedy series on Netflix
The series is still untitled. According to the show’s logic, the show will follow an “unlikely relationship” between “an irreverent, outspoken, agnostic woman and an unorthodox rabbi.” Bell plays the agnostic woman and will also executive produce the show.
The series will be Bell’s second starring role in a Netflix series. He recently starred in last year’s dark comedy/thriller parody The Woman in the House Across the Street from The Girl in the Window. It previously debuted on the streamer in January 2022. While the show ended on a cliffhanger, Netflix announced it as a “limited series” event.

Bell’s new Netflix series is currently in development under Disney’s 20th Television and Steven Levitan Productions. Foster will executive produce the show with Levitan, Bell, Craig DiGregorio, Sara Foster and Danielle Stokdyk. Oly Obst and Josh Lieberman are producers of the show under the 3 Arts banner.
Bell also recently starred in Amazon Studios’ “The People We Hate at the Wedding.” It is also slated to feature as an instrument in an upcoming “Paw Patrol” movie. Additionally, with Disney Studios recently announcing that another ‘Frozen’ sequel is in the works, it’s safe to say that Anna is likely to return as Queen of Arendelle. Disney Named Bell an Official Disney Legend as part of the Class of 2022 Awards Ceremony D23 Expo.
It’s interesting that Netflix is picking up a Disney-owned IP, given that Disney has controlling ownership of Hulu and its own streaming service, Disney+. More of the older Disney-owned swashbuckling comedies and dramas have generally made their way to Hulu. Not to mention that Netflix canceled Marvel Television and ABC Studios co-productions like “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage” and “The Punisher” a few years ago because Disney launched its own dedicated streaming service on Disney+.

It will be interesting to see if Bell’s new comedy series is a sign of change for both media giants. Time will tell in the end.
The actress burst onto the scene with the 2004 cult favorite ‘Veronica Mars’, produced by Rob Thomas. The series initially had four seasons and 72 episodes. The show had such a beloved fan base that it successfully funded a revival sequel on Kickstarter, raising its original goal of $2 million in just 11 hours in 2013. The film was later released in American theaters in March 2014.
Bell has also starred in successful films such as ‘Forgetting Sarah Marshall’, ‘The Boss’ and ‘Bad Moms’. His other hit series role was the NBC comedy series ‘The Good Place’ which ran from 2016 to 2020 and had 53 episodes.
Bell’s new Netflix comedy series is currently in development. Going forward, it will stream exclusively on the service.
