Kiefer Sutherland stars in new thriller series ‘Rabbit Hole’
In the new show, Sutherland plays John Weir, a master of deception in the world of corporate espionage. During the show, Weir is framed for murder by powerful forces that can influence and control the population.
The show boasts an impressive cast and an impressive pedigree behind the camera as well. Starring opposite Sutherland are Charles Dance of “Game of Thrones” fame, Meta Golding, Enid Graham, Jason Butler Harner, Walt Klink and Rob Yang. Sutherland also serves as the show’s executive producer, alongside writer-directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (“This Is Us”) and Charlie Gogolak, Suzan Bymel and Hunt Baldwin. Requa and Ficarra also serve as series creators and directed the first episode.
Bymel also worked on another political thriller series that previously starred Sutherland, Designated Survivor. The series ran for three seasons and 53 episodes, with the final season airing on Netflix in 2019.
Sutherland is best known to TV viewers as Jack Bauer from the award-winning cultural phenomenon 24. He played Bauer for nine seasons. The show was best known for its real-time narration, with an episode taking place during one hour of a given day. However, Sutherland did not return for the final installment of the franchise, “24: Legacy” in 2017. He last appeared as Bauer in the limited television event 24: Live Another Day, which aired in 2014.
Sutherland’s stint on “24” eventually earned him a Primetime Emmy Award for his work on the show. In 2006, he won the award for the most outstanding actor in a drama series. In the same year, he also shared the award for outstanding drama series. In 2002, he also received a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Drama Television Series for “24”.

“Rabbit Hole” looks like it’s cut from similar material to other techno and political thriller-type shows like “24” and “Person of Interest.” Sutherland’s character seems to operate in a gray world where he doesn’t know who to trust and loyalty is hard to discern. In a gag scene, Sutherland’s character, dressed as a courier, threatens a security guard by telling him that the package contains a bomb. It certainly evokes Bauer’s more creative interrogation tactics in the history of the “24” series.
In addition to his acting career, Sutherland also had a successful career as a musician. He released his latest studio album ‘Bloor Street’ last year. In gaming, he voiced Big Boss in “Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes” and “Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.”
“Rabbit Hole” is an eight-episode drama produced by Paramount Global CBS Studios. The series begins streaming March 26 on Paramount+.
