Christine Baumgartner has filed for divorce from Kevin Costner
Christine Baumgartner officially filed for divorce from Kevin Costner on Monday. according to court documents obtained by TMZBaumgartner referred to “irreconcilable opposites”. The estranged couple had been together for about 18 years.
Baumgartner, 49, asked the court in her documents to grant joint custody of her three children and Costner. During their marriage, they had 15-year-old Cayden, 14-year-old Hayes and 12-year-old Grace. However, the designer did not file for spousal support as she and Costner are already married.
Costner’s rep spoke with him TMZ on divorce filings. They said: “It is very sad that circumstances beyond his control arose and as a result Mr Costner had to be involved in the divorce. We ask that you respect his, Christine’s and their children’s privacy as they navigate this difficult time.”
On Tuesday, the “Testőr” actor responded to the divorce action by requesting joint custody. His filing also stated that “spousal support is payable to the applicant pursuant to the parties’ prenuptial agreement.”
They started dating in 1999
Baumgartner and Costner began dating in 1999, shortly after he and ex Bridget Rooney ended their relationship. He has a son with Rooney, 27-year-old Liam. The actor and Baumgartner briefly separated in 2003, but got back together about a year later.
After reuniting, Baumgartner and Costner married in a private ceremony in Aspen. Four years later, in 2007, they welcomed their first child, Cayden. Hayes was born in 2009, followed by Grace.
Before Baumgartner, Costner was married to Cindy Costner, but they ended their relationship in 2004. They also had three children, 39-year-old Annie, 36-year-old Lily and 35-year-old Joe. With this, the number of the actor’s children increased from three women to seven.
Kevin Costner’s hit show is reportedly ending after season five
The couple’s divorce came shortly after it was announced that “Yellowstone” would end after its fifth season. “Yellowstone” was the series that revived Costner’s acting career, and he received many accolades for his performance. He received a Golden Globe Award for his role as John Dutton.
There have been several rumors that Costner will not return for the second part of the fifth season due to clashes with the show’s creator Taylor Sheridan. A source from the production team spoke to the New York Post about the rumored accident.
They said: “Just like with any showrunner and big star – there’s respect, but there’s friction.” Another source, who used to work closely with Sheridan, claimed that there was a battle of egos going on, which was probably Sheridan’s fault. They said: “Taylor is the star of her show. He is the most important person in all his shows.”
Kevin Costner may still star in new Yellowstone episodes
In November 2022, the first half of the fifth season of “Yellowstone” premiered on the Peacock streaming platform. Around 12 million fans watched the first series of episodes and are now eagerly anticipating the second half of this year. However, production has yet to begin and the upcoming Hollywood writer’s strike will cause delays.
The source is a New York Post also stated that Costner could return in the second half of the season. They said, “We hope it can be resolved. It’s too big of a show for things not to be resolved. Hopefully Kevin will return for the remaining episodes if everyone works together, but it looks like ‘Yellowstone’ will end after this season.”
Another source added that no one from the production team or cast knows the whole picture except for one person. They said, “Only Taylor really knows what’s going on.”
