Kerry Washington has announced the release of her new memoir. It is denser than water, which is said to be available on September 26th. The actress, producer and activist opened up People magazine about the book, calling it a “deeply personal project.”
She told the publication: “Writing a memoir is by far the most deeply personal project I have ever undertaken. I hope readers will welcome it with an open heart, and I pray that it will offer new insights and perspectives and invite people to a deeper compassion—for themselves and for others.”

Washington wrote in the statement that the new memoir will reflect on her life and share how she overcame many challenges, traumas and setbacks as she grew her career. It also explores how she crossed the threshold of stardom and political advocacy, eventually discovering her truest self and with it a deeper sense of belonging.
“Thicker Than Water” is also published as a hardcover book by Little, Brown Spark, a division of Little, Brown and Company. Tracy Behar, the company’s vice president and publisher, shared a statement about the release of Washington’s book.

While Washington prepares to release the memoir, he is also busy with several upcoming film projects. The “Django Unchained” star stars in the upcoming Hulu series “Unprisoned,” a true story inspired by the experiences and life of Tracy McMillan.
Based on SpeciesWashington will also star in Tyler Perry’s Netflix film “Six Triple Eight,” playing a highbrow character. The actress will star alongside Oprah Winfrey, Ebony Obsidian, Kylie Jefferson, Milauna Jackson and more.
Washington also serves as an executive producer on the film. The upcoming film is a real-life adaptation that shares the story and experiences of the legendary all-black and all-female battalion that fought in World War II.
