Katharine McPhee Returns To Stage Following Family Tragedy

Katharine McPhee is making a return to the stage.

The singer joined her husband, David Foster back on stage for the first time since their family faced a heart-wrenching tragedy. During their recent tour in Asia, the couple were dealt a devastating blow when a tragic accident at a car dealership in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley claimed the life of their son’s nanny, Yadira Calito.

In a moving return to live performances, the actress and the 16-time Grammy Awards winner graced the stage for the first time since the 55-year-old nanny’s unexpected passing. The couple performed on Tuesday at a private event in Ravello, Italy, and were joined by actor Erich Bergen, known for starring alongside McPhee in the movie “Waitress.”

All dressed in white for the musical occasion, McPhee, Foster, and Bergen reportedly made a striking trio. The season five American Idol runner-up donned an elegant white dress, while Foster showcased his musical prowess at the piano, dressed in an ivory tuxedo.

Bergen shared a video of the performance on his Instagram page alongside the caption, “Singing Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons songs in Italy just seems appropriate. So great to perform with my friends @davidfoster @katharinefoster and @thelondonessentials.”

This private event marked their first performance since the sad incident forced McPhee to miss the last two dates of their Asian tour. At the time, it was reported that sources confirmed that the “Over It” singer was already en route to her California home.

The “Comfort Country” actress also communicated her absence to her Asian fans regarding the final two Jakarta shows via a message on Instagram:

“Dearest Jakarta fans, it’s with heavy heart I announce I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run. David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family, and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family.”

Expressing her heartfelt regrets and sincere wishes to “return one day and perform” for them, she appealed to fans for their understanding regarding the incident. The 39-year-old warmly concluded her message, signing off with, “Love, Katharine.”

Her colleagues and fans swiftly rallied around and offered unwavering support in the comment section. Singer Nicole Scherzinger conveyed her sentiments by writing, “Sending my love and prayers for your family,” while actress Amanda Kloots added, “Sending you loads of love. I’m thinking of you guys.”

A concerned fan expressed, “I hope your family will be ok very soon … family first.” At the same time, another supporter emphatically stated, “OMG, noo, I am so deeply sorry for whatever tragedy has happened Katharine, I will be praying for you every day, and you will be in my thoughts and prayers!”

In November, The Blast reported that after a long-awaited musical reunion, McPhee and Foster were gearing up to serenade their fans once again. Marking a 17-year gap in their joint music releases, the pair decided to take advantage of the approaching festive season.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the “Scorpion” star announced that she and the 73-year-old had collaborated on recording a Christmas album, a heartfelt dedication to celebrating the upcoming holiday.

The mother-of-one posted a stunning photo showcasing herself and the songwriter seated in a room adorned with Christmas presents and a brilliantly lit Christmas tree. Posing elegantly beside a majestic piano, McPhee radiated allure in a black, form-fitting, sleeveless gown embellished with glittering sequins.

Her hair was fashioned into a chic bun, and she accessorized with diamond earrings and a bracelet for a touch of sophistication. Meanwhile, the producer cut a dashing figure in a simple white shirt, a sleek black waistcoat, and a matching tie.

A swipe to the left revealed a news publication’s headline that offered a sneak peek into their freshly recorded album. In the post’s caption, she excitedly wrote:

“Super excited I got to record with my best friend again – first time was when I was just off of American idol 17 years ago – and the good part was he had to do all the work.🤣 I just listened to who I deem as the absolute best, and the rest was simple.”
