Jonathan Majors has been replaced by his longtime management company, Entertainment 360, Deadline first reported. The company reportedly decided to cut ties with Majors after he was arrested in New York following a domestic dispute in March. The major publicists of Lede Társulat also stopped representing the actor. IndieWire has reached out to both companies for comment.
Majors was arrested March 25 after NYPD officers responded to a 911 call at his home following an argument with an unnamed 30-year-old woman. The woman was taken to hospital with “minor injuries to her head and neck”, and Majors was charged with assault, strangulation and harassment. Majors is expected to appear in court on May 8 to contest the charges.
In addition to the legal question of his innocence or guilt, many entertainment industry observers wondered if and when various power figures would begin severing ties with Majors. Marvel Studios has built its next Phase Five movie around the character of Majors Kang, the Conqueror. Majors first played the role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and signed on to reprise it in several subsequent films. The arc is expected to culminate in 2025’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and 2026’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios has yet to comment on Majors’ arrest.
Majors maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings, and his legal team claimed they had additional evidence that could exonerate him.
“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and demonstrably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knew,” Majors’ criminal defense attorney said in a statement to IndieWire after the arrest. “We will quickly gather and submit the evidence to the district attorney with the understanding that charges will be dropped soon. This evidence includes video footage of the vehicle where this episode occurred, testimony from the driver and others who saw and heard the episode, and most importantly, two written statements from the woman denying these allegations. All the evidence shows that Mr. Majors is completely innocent and did not abuse her. Unfortunately, this incident happened because this woman was in an emotional crisis, which led to her being taken to the hospital yesterday. The NYPD is supposed to make arrests in these situations and that is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We hope to waive these charges soon.”
