Jason Momoa ‘Confused’ People Liked ‘Aquaman’

Jason Momoa is shocked that ‘Aquaman’ stayed afloat at the box office.
The DC superhero led the 2018 stand-alone film and will also play the role in the upcoming sequel, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” teased at CinemaCon 2023.
“Well, to be honest with you, I was completely taken aback that ‘Aquaman’ was so well received,” Momoa said recently. Men’s health. “I’ve done amazing things that no one sees and no one cares about. He just doesn’t know how in this business.”
Momoa noted that he doesn’t approach roles with the mindset of, “Oh, I’m going to get $1 billion for this,” but just “want to do my best work.”
“It’s not that I don’t care about Aquaman; “It’s an amazing character,” Momoa said. “Aquaman is probably the most difficult character in comic book history. They made fun of it and made fun of it, but I tried to give it my heart and soul, and in some ways I’m proud of it.”
As for “The Lost Kingdom,” the “Game of Thrones” alum added, “Do I feel any pressure for (the sequel) to do well? No. All I can do is give it my all. But that’s in the hands of a lot of other people.”
Momoa said before Species that he co-wrote the first story treatment for “The Lost Kingdom,” but revealed in a Men’s Health cover story that Warner Bros. Discovery didn’t quite follow the treatment.
“The beautiful thing (about ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’) is that me and my partner wrote the first treatment, which was a 50-page development, and a lot of it was because I was talking to the United Nations. what happens to the melting ice caps, Momoa said in January 2023. “There is no distant galaxy that will destroy us or aliens from another place. We are destroying our planet. We have to pull it together and save our home.”
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” director James Wan admitted that the superhero sequel was “less painful” for Momoa and his co-stars because of the advanced technology of the underwater sequences.
Wan added that during the first film, the actors suffered “a lot of physical pain” from hanging from wires and tuning forks. “It wasn’t the most comfortable device to strap into,” Wan said. “(Now) it hurts less for the actors, which makes my job easier because they don’t scream and shout at me. But the most important thing is that it really frees up filmmaking to do things I’ve never done before, and that’s exciting.”
“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” will be released in theaters on December 20 by Warner Bros.
