The ‘Everything Everywhere All At One’ actress continued: ‘We are in the middle of a contract dispute. So, until the writers are properly paid and protected by the producers who make billions off of them, there’s not much we can say about a ‘Freaky Friday’ sequel except that it’s happening.”
The Writers Guild of America, which represents thousands of screenwriters, has called a strike to ensure fair pay and protections for its members. They were recently joined by the Screen Actor’s Guild, SAF-AFTRA, in solidarity to demand better pay amid the new age of streaming and the rapidly evolving use of AI technology.
