Recounting his experience at drama school, Jackman shared that his drama teacher would have been shocked by the damage to his voice.
Explaining, he told the BBC Insider that the voice teacher at the drama school taught him a technique to shout and yell without damaging his voice, but screaming and yelling, as he did for the character, could have caused damage. “I was yelling and screaming and things that I think hurt my voice,” she revealed.
Fortunately, Jackman said he is now working on keeping his voice. One measure involves working with a vocal teacher and making an effort to prepare your voice vocally and physically for each role. “I work with a singing teacher and try not to hurt myself,” she says.
