Well, here it is: Oscar weekend 2023. Months of award ceremonies piled on top of each other, the 95th Academy Awards finally arrives on Sunday. For months, “Everything Everywhere All at Once” has been the best contender in the Best Picture category, but even the other categories are not so easy to nominate. From craft to shorts to documentaries, there are a number of key areas that make any Oscar pool a tricky proposition. But there’s still plenty of room for educated guesses.
On this week’s episode of Screen Talk, Eric Kohn and Anne Thompson discuss some of these and the latest theories about the best movies. They are also looking forward to the ceremony and the fact that it will almost certainly be an improvement over last year’s failure.
