Halle Bailey’s boyfriend DDG shades her on new song ‘Famous’

Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., known as DDG, is apparently not comfortable with his girlfriend, Bailey, engaging in intimate activities with others that her status as an actress and celebrity requires.

The rapper penned lyrics to his latest song “Famous” that hint at feelings of uncertainty about the situation, leading many to conclude that he was specifically referring to his relationship with his co-star Jonah Hauer-King during the live Disney broadcast. -action film “The Little Mermaid”.

In one part of the song, she sang: “Why are you holding hands in the photo?/…You know I’m insecure, that’s a no-no,” apparently referring to Bailey holding hands with Hauer-King at the UK premiere of their film.

The rapper also sang about not wanting Bailey to kiss other men in his movies, saying he doesn’t care when it comes to promotion.

The verse read: “Make a movie now kissin’ guys/ I don’t mind if it’s for this sh*t’s promotion/ I don’t wanna see no more of this sh*t.”

DDG also seemingly mentioned that he lost more than he gained by falling in love with Bailey, calling it the “hardest thing” he’s ever done.

“I’m not asking much, I’m asking you to do the basic sh*t / The hardest thing I’ve ever done was fall in love with a famous sh*t,” reads the chorus.

Following the song’s release, Bailey’s fans slammed DDG for his “insecurity,” with one fan even asking the rapper to “grow up.”

OK he tweeted, “REAL men are safe in everything! Baby boy is still sucking milk. This new generation is strange. You need to get out of this fast before it’s too late. This guy needs to grow up.”

However, some other fans chose to sympathize with the rapper’s feelings.

An online user commented, “Safe or not. When you see someone you love and have a relationship with, you’re going to have some kind of feeling about them.”

It remains to be seen how DDG’s new song will affect his relationship with Bailey after the rapper was recently accused of cheating earlier this year.

The “Hood Melody” rapper, who dated Bailey for over a year, was accused of cheating on the actress with his ex-girlfriend, fellow rapper Rubi Rose.

In February 2023, Rose claimed to have given Halle one of her old shirts as a gift, leading to rumors online. However, the DDG and “Little Mermaid” star denied the allegations.

“The devil is at work lol,” Halle tweeted at the time Us Weekly. She then asked her fans not to believe claims from unknown sources about her relationship.

Bailey added: “Please don’t feel comfortable with lies, especially from a third party. May everyone be blessed.”

The pair were first linked in January 2022 after they were spotted at Usher’s Las Vegas residence. Later in March, they confirmed on Instagram that it was a product and subsequently appeared on the red carpet together.

Towards the end of the year, Bailey publicly discussed her relationship with the rapper, revealing that she was a longtime fan of his work as a rapper and YouTuber before they crossed paths.

“Growing up on YouTube, I always saw young black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them,” Halle said Essence for their September/October 2022 issue, per People Magazine.

He added: “I completely forgot about it. But then I saw him drop the music and I was really drawn to that song. He accidentally messaged me – and the rest is history.”
