Grimes is making a big exit from Columbia Records
Art pop singer Grimes has cut ties with her former label, Columbia Records.
Originally known as Claire Elise Boucher, the songwriter, whose work ranges from “lo-fi R&B” to futuristic dance-pop, has not neglected her fans after a reliable source revealed that she has parted ways with the record label.
However, it looks like the singer has come up with a plan to help market her music and generate sales!

Having spent just under three years with Columbia Records after signing to the label on March 5, 2021, the “Genesis” singer has called it quits.

As reported Notice boardthe singer’s longtime manager, Daouda Leonard, confirmed the news that she is parting ways with the record label. Although his manager did not give a reason for his exit, it is unclear what will happen to his upcoming sixth album, ‘BOOK 1’, which he produced while still under the label.
The pop singer seemed excited about the album during her time at Columbia, even announcing on social media that the project was complete and could be released in two parts.
He tweeted about it on the Bird app: “The album is done. Mix it. My friend and I perfected the last song at the plastic surgery clinic because they wouldn’t let us go and laughed about how it was the most Hollywood moment ever. I have 20 songs so maybe BOOK 1 and 2? Deciding the format/track list.”
Before tweeting, he gave a glimpse of the long-awaited album during a performance at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival.
Leaning on the other side, he introduced his latest venture, ELF.TECH, an app and web-based operating system, and introduced Grimes Gen 1 Avatars, the first series of his own virtual artificial intelligence avatars.
Before joining Columbia Records, the singer released five albums on independent labels. His albums included ‘Geidi Primes’ and ‘Halfaxa’ which arrived in 2010 on Canadian indie Arbutus Records. While her last three albums – ‘Visions’ (2012), ‘Art Angels’ (2015) and ‘Miss Anthropocene’ (2020) – were released on 4AD.
Even though the talented songwriter parted company with Columbia Records, he doesn’t want to take a break from music. Being a fan of technology, it was no surprise that he tweeted his support for AI over the weekend and confirmed his departure from the record label.

Using your official persona Twitter accountthe “Shinigami Eyes” singer posted a screenshot of an article dealing with Drake and The Weekend’s artificial intelligence fake hits. Expressing his thoughts on the matter, he wrote:
“I will share 50% of the royalties for every successful AI-generated song that uses my voice. It’s the same deal as any other artist I work with. Feel free to use my voice without penalty. I have no label and no legal obligations.”
He added: “I think it’s cool to be one with a machine (SIC) and I like the idea of getting all art open source and killing copyright.” As expected, curious fans immediately flocked to the tweet to throw in their two cents. A fan inquired about the upcoming album, which he had previously promoted and raved about.
They asked, “What about the album Grimes was working on”? To which he responded and revealed, “They’ve been taking me so long I’m bored; I’m going to put it out, but I want to put out the new songs that I made first.”
Another asked: “Would a song title like this acknowledge you as a featured artist or how would you like it?
Grimes replied: “Sure – anything anyone wants. I wonder what’s going on and I’m interested in being a guinea pig.” A third commented: “New progress. Go c 🙌💪.” Endorsing the view, the singer wrote: “Yes my friend – we must stand on the sea”!

Grimes keeps surprising her fans and supporters! This time, however, it wasn’t about her music, but about her one-year-old daughter, whom she shares with Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
Per The Blastthe “Venus Fly” singer, who named her daughter Exa after she was born in December 2021, made the shocking announcement on Twitter. She shared a sweet photo of herself and her daughter cosplaying as Sailor Mars and revealed in the comments that her child has a new name.
He wrote: “Now he’s Y or ‘Why?’ or just “?” (But the government does not recognize this). Curiosity, the eternal question,… and things like that.”
