Reilly requested access to the letter earlier this year, but Circuit Court Judge Danielle Brewer denied the original request for the potentially explosive letter on a technicality.

The original application included all documents that Brian and his parents exchanged between July 2, 2021 and September 1, 2021.

Gabby was murdered by Brian in late August 2021 and her body was discovered on September 19, 2021 in a Wyoming National Park.

Brian fled the scene and drove back to his parents’ home in North Port, Florida. He later committed suicide at Carlton Nature Reserve, behind Chris and Roberta’s home.

He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. In a notebook entry, he admitted to killing his fiancée.

The letter in question was undated, so Judge Brewer ruled that the letter did not need to be included in the application and ruled that a separate application could be made for the letter.

Reilly resubmitted the request on February 14th.

The Laundry’s lawyer, Steven Bertolino, was also included in a lawsuit filed by Gabby’s parents. He also hired a lawyer.

The letter came to light in December 2022 after Bertolino referred to it on a December 5th a letter to the other lawyer of Mosoda, Matthew Luka.

According to ABC7, the letter served as a response to the Laundromat’s objections that certain documents should be handed over to the plaintiffs before the civil suit scheduled for later this year.

“(The) request … is certainly relevant because it again relates to the question of his clients’ knowledge of Gabby’s death and the location of her body. This request would certainly include the note that Roberta Laundrie wrote to Brian Laundrie when she offered to bring a shovel to help bury the body. This memo was released to the custody of Mr. (Steven) Bertolino by the FBI on Friday, June 24, 2022,” the letter said.

Bertolino said before ABC7 that Reilly’s letter request was his attempt to “sensationalize” old evidence to bolster his case.

“Roberta Laundrie wrote a letter that she gave to her son Brian before Brian and Gabby left Florida for New York,” Bertolino said in an email. “This information is not new. The FBI had the letter and gave it to me in June 2022 along with the rest of Brian’s personal items. Attorney Reilly is trying to further sensationalize the contents of this letter to make his case by taking incoherent comments in the letter out of context. If Mr. Reilly’s claims had any merit, a reasonably intelligent person would think that the FBI would have acted on such information. So you can draw your own conclusions about the validity of Mr. Reilly’s claims.”
