You knew it was the one celebrated season when people are encouraged to do so wait a moment and… get off.

The masturbation could begin!

May is celebrated as Masturbation May, or to use the more politically correct term, National Masturbation Month. The period of the year was created by the Good Vibrations sex shop in 1995.

This was in response to Bill Clinton firing surgeon Dr. Joycelyn Elders, who believed that masturbation should be taught as part of the curriculum in schools. This is the 28th^th year in which the celebration is held.

Every year, Good Vibrations celebrates the news on its website and social media to continue to educate the masses that it’s completely normal to touch yourself.

Every year, the business dedicates a post to Elders and his fruitful work. This is how he is described:

“The first black woman to serve in this role—for a simple and true statement about masturbation: When asked if it should be part of the sex education curriculum, she said, given the pressing need for information about safer sex, that something “which should perhaps be taught”.

Many celebrities are proud of themselves

Fortunately, Elders, Good Vibrations, and other sex advocate celebrities are backing their ideas by creating sex-related brands. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss has an entire podcast about sex. He also produced a line of sex toys. And it has an experience called “The Dungeon”. Oops!

Gwyneth Paltrow always refers to the joy she derives from “alone time.” Goop’s brand is constantly promoting self-love, and even dedicated an entire episode of their Netflix series to the female orgasm.

Cardi B followed up WAP’s success with her own sex toy with Vush, the ‘Majesty 2’ vibrator. Dakota Johnson collaborated with Maude to create her vibrator and promote some of their bestsellers.

These celebrities don’t just focus on their sex-related pursuits in May; Lala Kent, Charly Jordan, and Kenya Moore, of course, have all promoted the sex toys they allegedly use on Instagram and Twitter; this is an #advertisement, but when May rolls around, the going gets a lot harder.

Social media is buzzing

The beginning of May excited many, and excessively sexual posts are doing the rounds. “May has it and you need it too” – this is the motto so far. There is also a calendar that has a different masturbation technique every day.
