Evan Peters should have eaten pasta in 2022.

The “Dahmer” star won a Golden Globe for his controversial portrayal of cannibalistic serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in the Netflix series, but “The White Lotus” executive producer David Bernad revealed that Peters is headed to Sicily for Season 2 of the HBO viral. lecture. Peters was eyed to play Ethan, the tech millionaire married to Aubrey Plaza.

“This episode was the last episode we aired of the season, and it was originally supposed to be Evan Peters, but for whatever reason—scheduling or timing—it didn’t work out,” Bernad said (via Deadline).

“Giri/Haji” actor Will Sharpe was cast instead.

“We were really trying to figure out how to cast this part so that it wasn’t a familiar cast,” Bernad said. “We were in Rome auditioning Italian actors and I was Googling at 4am and came across Will Sharpe in ‘Giri/Haji’, which is a brilliant show in the UK. I’ve never seen it before. he’s just incredibly talented. I looked at his other work and realized that he is something of a chameleon.

Sharpe previously spoke to IndieWire about the role, which sees Ethan transform from a dutiful, diplomatic husband to a raging, jealous avenger of infidelity. “(Creator) Mike (White) wanted it to be a bit of a mystery and for the audience to figure it out one way or another,” Sharpe said. “(White) wanted people to be able to imagine that Ethan ends up killing someone. I took that into account when playing him through the series, trying to (get) the truth every moment and watching the long game.”

Peters isn’t the only Netflix star who should have been cast in another viral show. Jenna Ortega was originally written into “You” Season 4 and reprized the character of Ellie Alves from Season 2 before “Wednesday” creation came her way.

“We wanted to bring Ellie back and we heard, ‘Oh, Jenna’s doing a show,'” “You” showrunner Sera Gamble told IndieWire. “It was a great pleasure to see Jenna this year. We have ideas for Ellie if her schedule allows her to visit us again.
