In 2020, the actor purchased the American football league, the XFL, for an estimated $15 million along with other partners, including his ex-wife Danny Garcia. Three years later, the league is reopening, and he recently shared his thoughts on how he feels about it.

Circumstances beyond his control thwarted the XFL’s attempt to restart in 2020. The outbreak of COVID-19 resulted in a shortened season and the league faced financial difficulties due to a lack of revenue.

Following the cancellation of the season, the XFL filed for bankruptcy and the rights to the league were put up for auction in August 2020, where Johnson stepped in to purchase the league.

The XFL consists of a total of eight teams divided into two divisions – North and South – with their own stadiums and head coaches.
