Disney Imagineer Talks New Villains-Themed Land at Disney World

At D23 in September, President, Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro joint concept art for a potential villain themed landwhich the Imagineers want to take away Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Now, a few months after the potential plans were revealed, fans have been able to welcome the news and get excited that a villain-themed country is coming magical kingdom.

After listening to his fan base, Disney visionary Chris Beatty they have confirmed that they are still pushing for the new land as it is clearly what the fans want.

In a new interview to promote the upcoming TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction, which opens next month in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, Disney Imagineer Chris Beatty touched on a few other projects in the works, including a new villain-themed land — which for fans. have been asking for years.

“Every day we dream about what’s next at Walt Disney World. We just wanted to give you a sneak peek at some of the amazing things to come. It changes every day. It’s exciting,” he said EW. “I think Josh (D’Amaro) really tried to get across that spirit of creativity of what could be next, of innovation, of the possibility of what could be, is still alive and well at Disney and Imagineering,” he continued. say, referring to the D23 presentation that took place in September.

The presentation wasn’t meant to share specific plans, but rather to give his team a chance to show fans they’re “dreaming” of what could come to the park.

“(The villains concept) got a pretty good round of applause,” he recalled when his team put the concept art on screen at the D23 presentation. “We took note of how loud the applause was when we announced this,” the Imagineer continued, hinting that the villain-themed land might actually come to life.

While Disney Imagineers haven’t confirmed what will be included in the new Villans area expansion, they have mentioned the possibility of living in the Magic Kingdom behind the Big Thunder Mountain attraction, calling the whole concept the “Beyond Big Thunder Mountain” project.

Disney World is preparing to open its newest roller coaster at the Magic Kingdom, the TRON Lightcycle / Run, which is currently in the preview stage so Disney World Annual Passholders can try the ride before the official opening on April 4th.

At EPCOT, Imagineers are putting the finishing touches on the Moana-inspired Journey of Water, set to open in late 2023. The company called the Moana-inspired Journey of Water a “luscious journey of discovery” that allows guests to “play with magical, living water.”

Additionally, Disney World announced new character meet and greets at the parks, including Moana, Mirabel from “Encanto” and Figment from EPCOT’s iconic attraction Journey Into Imagination with Figment, all set to debut sometime this year.
