D’Arcy Carden welcomes his action star era: ‘Marvel, I’m waiting!’

The star of “A League of Your Own” and “Barry” has proven to be a hit in Prime Video’s “Shotgun Wedding,” but Carden’s career is only one.

(Spoilers for “Shotgun Wedding,” now streaming on Prime Video, below.)

Who hasn’t seen it yet? that is the screw coming to an end? With the explosive climax of “Shotgun Wedding,” D’Arcy Carden seems to have just cemented himself as a professional stuntman and bona fide action star.

The Prime Video film stars Jennifer Lopez and Josh Duhamel as a couple whose wedding party is held hostage by Balinese pirates. It turns out that J.Lo’s ex (played by Lenny Kravitz) hired the criminals to ruin her big day and get a huge payout. Carden plays the girlfriend of J.Lo’s father (Cheech Marin), who is also involved with Kravitz and the cheating scheme.

“It was a lot of fun telling friends and family that I was playing Cheech’s girlfriend, but I was having an affair with Lenny Kravitz. They say, “WHAT?” Carden told IndieWire exclusively. “Oh, and I’m kind of J.Lo’s stepmom.” Like, what is life? How did it happen? It was a lot of fun and they are both amazing.”

Are you part of this amazing experience? Making out with Kravitz while in character. Carden shared a special message for Kravitz’s daughter, Zoë Kravitz, if she ever meets her.

“I would say, ‘Don’t hate!’ Carden joked. “No, I’d actually say, ‘Your father is a very good kisser.’ And then he’d say, “Great, we’re not going to be friends, but thanks for telling me that.”

The big “Shotgun Wedding” twist also finds Carden hanging from a helicopter (which later explodes, à la Michael Bay) and wielding a comically massive machine gun. So yes, Carden can hold her own in any scene she’s given, in any genre.

“I would welcome that era (of action stardom),” Carden said. “I really like doing action stuff and I like doing stunt work. I played a lot of sports growing up. I have to go to therapy because I want to impress my dad, but there’s something about me that makes me feel like, ‘I’m going to be the best little stuntman I can be!'”

The Emmy-nominated star added: “There was an episode of ‘The Good Place’ where I had to do a 10-minute fight scene and I worked with this amazing stuntman, a legendary stuntman named Jeff Amato, and that was a first for me . really getting into the stunts where I was like, ‘I love this.’ Then we got to do a lot of stunts on ‘A League of Your Own’ working with this amazing stunt team. The more the better. I would be very, very excited to do more of it. Marvel, I’m waiting!”

Aside from its big finale and the shocking twist the title suggests, Carden’s turn in “Shotgun Wedding” mostly consisted of taking a hostage and standing in a large Dominican Republic hotel pool with co-stars Jennifer Coolidge and Sonia Braga. Callie Hernandez, Selena Tan and Steve Coulter.

“On paper, you say, ‘OK, they’re in the pool, no big deal. And then when you get there, you’re like, “Oh my god God. We’re in the pool no matter how many hours it’s been daylight,” Carden recalled. “The pruning is the easiest part. You get weird little rashes when you’re in the water for that long. I think there was one day the water was a little cold and everyone turned blue, then the rest of the time it was like a hot tub. In fact, we have all the complaints about plum fingers, it couldn’t have been easier.”

And maintaining continuity through hours spent in literally standing water proved problematic at times.

“The first day we went into the pool, Jason Moore, the director, said, ‘Would your character take off his shoes?’ What would they do? And I said, Oh, we have a lot of sun in this pool. I definitely take my shoes off. I won’t hold anything. What would Harriet do, but what would I do?” Carden joked.

But it’s clear that his rise to Hollywood is doing nothing but water. As fans continue to clamor for a second season of “A League of Their Own,” which also airs on Prime Video and “Shotgun Wedding,” Carden is ready to return to the Rockford Peaches.

“How is it still this long (and not renewed for season 2)? I have no updates other than fans are still so active on social media with the hashtag,” Carden said. “It’s almost like a part-time job. This is amazing. There is no shortage in #RenewALOTO. I get thousands of tweets about it every day, and it’s really beyond our wildest dreams, and it’s really kind of me that people care enough to ask me this question, let alone tweet it a million times. It’s so beautiful, the cast and I, we just want to get back to that damn baseball field and shoot Season 2.”

Additionally, Carden isn’t ruling out an appearance on “White Lotus” Season 3 after hooking up with Emmy winner Coolidge on “Shotgun Wedding,” which saw the “Legally Blonde” icon continue to be tied up in precarious situations at luxury resorts.

“I’m obsessed with Mike White and everything he does,” Carden said, outlining a possible Season 3 premise. “Maybe we could be ghosts or angels or something.” We could hang out in a hotel and then Jennifer Coolidge could still be there.

Mike White…Marvel…do you have Carden’s number?
