On Thursday, Johnson gave celebrities a taste of his comedic side at Opening Night: A Taste of Sundance, presented by IMDbPro. While congratulating Call Me By Your Name director Luca Guadagnino, the actress joked about the film’s Hammer. Guadagnino received the Sundance Institute’s International Icon Award.

Johnson revealed, per Page six, that he almost got into the film in the role of the iconic peach; however, due to their conflicting schedules, he had to post bail. “Unfortunately, I was not at CMBYN. In a particularly gross scene from “Call Me By Your Name,” Hammer almost eats a peach that Timothy Chalamet’s character Elio used sexually. The scene is one of the highlights of the critically acclaimed film.

At first, Johnson’s joke got only a few laughs and applause; but as more and more people seemed to get the joke, more and more cheers and applause broke out in the crowd. Referring to Guadagnino’s “Bones and All,” the actress added, “Who knew cannibalism was so popular?”

In March 2021, “The Social Network” star Hammer was accused of violent rape and numerous “mental, emotional and sexual” abuses during their four years together. The accuser, who gave only her first name, Effie, dated the actor between 2016 and 2020.
