Chris Rock Finally Sears Will Smith in Oscar Slap, Roasts Over Jada

He recently appeared in the final segment of his Netflix special Chris Rock opened up about the 2022 Oscars incident in which Will Smith slapped him on stage after making a bald joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Reflecting in front of a live audience at the event a year later, Rock admitted that while the slap “still hurts,” he doesn’t want to be seen as a victim. Instead, he expressed his desire to move on and focus on his work in comedy.

The comedian made sure to hit back at Will in the only way he knew how, a good roast.

In his latest Netflix comedy, Chris Rock talked about the infamous slap he received from Will at the Oscars last year. During his “Chris Rock: Selective Outrage” series, the 58-year-old comedian talked about the incident that happened after he joked about Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.

During a performance streamed live on Netflix from the Hippodrome Theater in Baltimore, Maryland, Rock opened up about the incident and explained that the slap still stings more than a year later.

“Everybody knows what happened to me when Suge Smith hit me,” he joked. “Do people think it hurt? It still hurts! The sound of “Summertime” is ringing in my ears.

Despite the humiliating moment, Rock used the incident as material for his comedy, reminding his audience that even the most famous and successful people are not immune to the occasional awkward moment.

She also stated that she does not appear on talk shows like Oprah or Gayle to cry about the incident. The comedian compared himself to taking the slap to Manny Pacquiao boxing this. “I took that hit like Pacquiao,” he said.

The Netflix comedy special is the first time the comedian has dealt with the case at length. However, he previously hinted that he is still trying to come to terms with what happened during his stand-up performance just four days after the 2022 Oscars.

A month after the incident, Rock joked that he wouldn’t talk about the slap until he was “paid.”

During his latest Netflix comedy, Rock certainly threw jab after jab at Will, saying his anger was misplaced and should have been directed at his wife. Rock referenced an episode of his Facebook series, “Red Table Talk,” in which he admitted to having an affair in 2020.

“Will Smith practices selective outrage because everybody knows what the hell happened,” Rock joked. He added: “I had no entanglements. Will Smith’s wife fucked her son’s friend, okay. Normally I wouldn’t talk about this shit, but for some reason they put it on the internet.”

“We’ve all been duped. None of us have been interviewed by the person we cheated on on television. He hurt her much more than he hurt me,” he concluded.

The comedian didn’t mince words, repeatedly calling the Oscar-winning actor a “b**ch” even as he claimed the industry as a whole thought Will was a “ba**a” for condoning Jada’s “entanglement “. ” with August Alsina.

After the Oscar controversy, which resulted in heavy backlash against Will, the “Emancipation” actor publicly apologized and said he reached out to Rock to apologize as well.

In a heartfelt video shared by the Youtube, Will talked about his violent reaction to Rock’s comments about Jada’s alopecia-related hair loss. Rock compared her buzzcut to Demi Moore’s in the movie GI Jane. In the video, Smith responded to Rock’s words, apologizing for his actions and calling his behavior unacceptable.

“There’s no part of me that thinks that was the right behavior at that moment. There’s no part of me that thinks that’s the optimal way to deal with disrespect or insults,” he says in the video.

In an interview with Trevor Noah on “The Daily Show” in November 2022, Smith explained that the slap was prompted by pent-up “rage” and emotion. He acknowledged the complexity of the situation, but stressed that his actions were ultimately unforgivable. “There’s a lot of nuance and complexity to it,” Smith said. “But at the end of the day, I just lost it, you know?” said per Insider.
