Brad Pitt was blindsided by Angelina Jolie’s actions

Pitt is said to have been blindsided by Jolie’s moves to sell her stake in Château Miraval, as he had no prior knowledge of her plan and only learned of it through a 2021 press release.
According to the Daily Mail, the actor pointed out that while he had first-mover rights to the “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” actress’ stake in the winery, he instead chose to secretly sell it to Tenute del Mondo, a Russian-linked spirits company controlled by Yuri Shefler.
Pitt claimed it linked Château Miraval to Russia, its homophobic laws and the invasion of Ukraine – potentially tarnishing the prized rosé’s reputation.
The custody battle of the former power couple has been in the news for years, numerous accusations and counter-accusations have been discussed back and forth. Pitt and Jolie have six children; Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne, and have been embroiled in a complicated legal dispute over custody arrangements since their 2016 split.
Brad Pitt reportedly invested more in the winery

Further details revealed by the publication regarding Pitt’s relationship with the Miraval vineyard shed light on the significant investments he has made and his contractual rights.
The court filing revealed that as part of their original agreement, the estranged couple committed to keep Mira together and sell their separate interests when the time came.
That provision would have reportedly allowed him to buy his stake before considering any outside bids. Pitt’s legal team says Jolie’s move to sell her share of Miraval to a Russian oligarch without notifying or involving Pitt violates their agreement.

The filing revealed that out of trust in his then-wife, he “dedicated his time and resources to renovating the estate and building a highly successful wine business.”
He continued: “Jolie, while supportive of Pitt’s efforts for the family, did not do the work necessary to make Miraval a success. Instead, he allowed Pitt to pour money and capital into the business, relying on his promise to hold together the contractual rights to Miraval and the Nouvel holding company.”
According to the news outlet, Pitt’s investment exceeded Jolie’s by nearly $50 million at the time of their divorce.
Angelina Jolie filed a counterclaim

The “Tomb Raider” star has filed a countersuit against Pitt over his claims regarding the sale of his stake in the Miraval vineyard and other allegations against him.

She claimed the actor tried to force her to sell her stake in his company Mondo Bongo on “unreasonable terms” and spread lies that Shefler was “a Vladimir Putin ally.”
Jolie also alleged that Pitt hid assets and wasted the company’s money on projects that weren’t viable, including a swimming pool and an ornate staircase that was rebuilt four times.
