Ariana Grande Says Growing Up In The Spotlight Negatively Impacted Her Relationship With Beauty
In the YouTube video for the entertainer’s appearance in an episode of Vogue’s Beauty Secrets, the “Side to Side” hitmaker showed off her makeup skills while discussing her beauty tips. However, the conversation got heavy when the Florida native addressed her relationship with beauty.
According to the Nickelodeon alum, starting her career at a young age made her susceptible to people’s opinions about her appearance. From criticisms to beauty tips, the TV personality confessed that her past self could not differentiate between good and bad advice.
As a result, she chose to hide behind her makeup. Instead of letting the public pick on her natural beauty, the “7 Rings” artist disguised herself with voluminous hair and thick eyeliner.
“I, over the years, used makeup as a disguise or as something to hide behind,” the Florida beauty admitted, noting that she still loved her old style. However, the 12-time Teen Choice Award recipient no longer wished to use makeup as a facade.
“I think as I get older, I don’t love that being the intention behind it anymore. I think of it as self-expression now and accentuating what is here,” the media personality explained. “Our relationships to beauty are so personal. Like, we’re here talking about beauty secrets. Isn’t the secret that we all just wanna feel our best and to be loved?”
To feel at her best, Grande stated she did not need cosmetic injections like she did five years ago. Admitting to getting the beauty boosters, the “Victorious” star announced: “I’ve had a ton of lip filler over the years. And botox. I stopped in 2018 ’cause I just felt so too much. I just felt like hiding, you know?”
As she spoke, the multi-hyphenate entertainer’s eyes welled up with tears, and tried to play off her pain by noting she never expected to get “emotional.” The blonde beauty took a moment to regain her composure before reaffirming that she previously associated beauty with hiding. “I hope my smile lines get deeper and deeper, and I laugh more and more. And I just think aging is like such a, it can be such a beautiful thing,” Grande declared. Nevertheless, the “Wicked” star is not saying never to cosmetic procedures.
Now, might I get a facelift in 10 years? Might, yeah! But these are just thoughts that I feel like we should be able to discuss,” she said. “If we’re sitting here talking about beauty secrets, f— it let’s lay it all out there
