‘American Born Chinese’ Trailer: Michelle Yeoh is a Goddess

Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu also star in the streamer’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” reunion.

Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh continues to explore the vast dimensions of the various realms.

Yeoh plays Guanyin, the goddess of mercy, in the Disney+ series “American Born Chinese”. Yeoh’s “Everything Everywhere All at Once” co-stars Ke Huy Quan and Stephanie Hsu in the high school series, which is based on Gene Luen Yang’s comic of the same name.

In addition to “American Born Chinese,” Yeoh returns to the “Star Trek” franchise for the Paramount+ film “Section 31.”

But if Yeoh, Quan and Hsu in “American Born Chinese” aren’t enough of an “Everything Everywhere” Meets Disney+ solution, the Daniels are now partnering with Disney+ to direct an episode of “Star Wars” series “The Skeleton Crew” ” ” Starring Jude Law. “Spider-Man: No Way Home” director Jon Watts, showrunner of the series, confirmed that the show will be a “Stranger Things”-style adventure series about teenagers trying to find their way home.

The Daniels defended their big-budget directing gig after A24’s indie film Everything Everywhere All at Once.

“Lol, all those who write to us about being sucked into the ‘corporate machine’ can cool off. These titles are always misleading,” Kwan shared on Instagram Stories. – Do not worry. We are not working on a full series, we guest directed an episode. Jon Watts approached us to do an episode a while back (before EEAAO came out). We love Jon, we love Star Wars, we love learning new technology, we love meeting new cast and crew, and we needed the days to keep our health care (!!!), so it was easy, yeah.”

Kwan added: “I’m excited for them to see it. Our next film will be an original Daniels project, so you don’t have to worry (and don’t bother about it) anymore.

The Daniels filmed the “Skeleton Crew” episode last year before accepting the 2023 Academy Awards. The duo won Best Original Screenplay, Best Director and Best Picture for “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” while stars Yeoh, Quan and Jamie Jamie Lee Curtis won the respective acting awards. Hsu was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in the same category as Curtis.
