“Seinfeld” star Julia Louis-Dreyfus recently shared a heartbreaking experience from her past on “Wiser than me” podcast. The 62-year-old actress has spoken candidly about her journey to motherhood and the miscarriage she suffered aged just 28 after marrying husband Brad Hall in 1987.

During a conversation with guest Ruth Reich, Louis-Dreyfus recalled the moment she found out she was pregnant. “I got pregnant for the first time when I was about 28 and I was crazy happy,” she said. “I got pregnant easily. I felt very fertile, very feminine. Then, late in the pregnancy, my husband, Brad, and I realized that this little fetus was not going to live.

The actress said the experience was “emotionally devastating” and worsened when she later contracted an infection and was hospitalized. “I finally got out of the hospital and came home to recover, but they haven’t let me out of bed yet. As they say, I was bedridden,” he recalled.

Recalling the loving moment, she said: “He made this great cozy chili in a cast iron pan with cornbread in the pan. She and my husband, Brad, set up a small card table at the foot of the bed. And the smell of cornbread and chili was so wonderful.”

Although she was unable to eat solid food due to her recovery, the smell of the food and the sweet gesture made her feel comforted, and she describes the experience as one of her “greatest memories”. He added: “It didn’t matter. It was the best food and I didn’t even eat it. Making it was so comforting and embracing.”
