Nick and Aaron Carter’s younger sister, Bobbie Jean, has landed herself in legal hot water.
Police arrested the 41-year-old woman after she allegedly stole some items from a Florida craft store last weekend. His situation quickly escalated after a powerful synthetic opioid drug was found in his possession.
Bobbie Jean Carter was arrested after being arrested for shoplifting
Bobbie Jean was arrested and charged with one count of retail theft and possession of fentanyl on Saturday in Hernando County, Florida. Her problems began after she stole $55 worth of stickers and other craft items from Hobby Lobby in Brooksfield, Florida, prompting the store’s loss prevention team to call the proper authorities.
According to police reports Page six, police escorted him into an office where he allegedly “grabbed his wallet in a panic, took out a powder blue container and threw it under the LP (loss prevention) counter.” The case allegedly contained 0.8 grams of purple powder and 1.3 grams of white powder.
A field test later confirmed that fentanyl was present in the purple powder. Bobbie Jean was then reportedly taken into custody and immediately placed on suicide watch after allegedly threatening to “kill” herself on her way to jail.
The office reiterated that he is charged with one count of retail theft (shoplifting) and possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl), according to his arrest record. Bobbie Jean was given a $500 bond on the retail theft charge and is expected to appear in court on July 10.
As for possession of a controlled substance, Carter’s brother was held on a $2,000 bond and is due in court on July 13. Despite being involved in the trademark and substance abuse issues that have plagued the Carters for years, Bobbie Jean has managed to stay out of the limelight unlike her more famous siblings, making it almost impossible to know about private life.
He is the second child and first daughter of his parents, Robert Gene Carter and Jane Elizabeth (née Spaulding). In addition to being the younger sister of Nick, a member of the beloved boy band Backstreet Boys, Bobbie has three younger siblings – older sister Leslie and twin brother Angel and the late Aaron.
She also has two half-siblings, Virginia Marie, Taelyn Dobson and Kaden Brent, from her late father’s second marriage. While Virginia was from Robert’s first marriage, Taelyn and Kaden were from his third marriage.
Bobbie has lost three family members so far – her father, Leslie and Aaron. Her father died at the age of 65 on May 16, 2017, and Leslie was found unconscious in the New York home of Robert and his third wife, Ginger Elrod, on January 31, 2012.
It was later confirmed that the then 25-year-old died of a drug overdose. Leslie’s death is similar to that of her brother Aaron, who was found unconscious in a bathtub at his California home last November. In the end, the coroner classified his death as an accidental drug overdose.
Aaron Carter checked into rehab before his death
Aaron appeared to make changes to improve his lifestyle last year and voluntarily checked into an outpatient treatment center. According to a September 2022 report by The Blastthe late 34-year-old spoke about his rehabilitation plans. In the words of the winner of the Kids’ Choice Awards:
“It’s an abstinence program and I work with an individual counselor. I teach group therapy, parenting classes and (and) domestic violence classes. I got myself certified in CPR, just a bunch of different things. Being a parent is new, but it’s actually been really fun and exciting and a new chapter in my life. It was wonderful.”
After pointing out that this was his fifth attempt at rehab, the “I Want Candy” singer revealed that he decided to try again because he didn’t want to “smoke more weed, I don’t need it.” Touching on other concerns that he relapsed, Aaron explained that while he hasn’t experienced one, he hopes that rehab will help him deal with the underlying causes.
