With just two weeks to go until the 95th Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has finally announced the first wave of presenters for this year’s Academy Awards.
A telecast will take place at the Dolby Theater on Sunday, March 12, 2023, broadcast live on ABC and broadcast worldwide at 8:00 PM ET/5:00 PM PT. Last year’s winners include Best Supporting Actor Troy Kotsur (” CODA “) and Best Supporting Actress Ariana DeBose (” West Side Story “), the viral number for the 2023 BAFTA Awards has just surfaced. which category some stars are presenting, as per tradition, we can expect Kotsur and DeBose to be presented in the categories they won.
Last year’s best live-action short winner Riz Ahmed (“The Long Goodbye”) and best documentary winner Questlove (“Summer of Soul”) will also be making appearances. Both filmmakers have already produced some memorable moments for the 2023 awards season, with Ahmed and co-presenter Allison Williams (“M3GAN”) impressively not getting a single name as the Oscar nominees were announced in January (no laughing matter when she said: ” My Year of Dicks”). ”), and Questlove is preparing a wonderful tribute to the 50-year hip-hop segment at this year’s Grammy Awards.
“Creed III” stars Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors will both make their Oscar debuts this year, as will “Jungle Cruise” (2021) stars Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Emily Blunt. In the Academy’s statement, it is again unclear whether they will be paired for the presentation. Several of this year’s Oscar winners, such as Glenn Close, Samuel L. Jackson, and Zoe Saldaña, likely crossed paths in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies they star in, so pairing them up to announce a category winner based on loosely shared history is a random bit of fun.
Among the actors who didn’t end up getting a nomination this year but agreed to show (think Lady Gaga) are “Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery” star Janelle Monáe and “Top Gun: Maverick” star Jennifer Connelly . Then, the first wave of presenters at the 95th Academy Awards will be rounded out by “The Little Mermaid” actress Melissa McCarthy and international icons Deepika Padukone and Donnie Yen.
This year’s Academy Awards will be executive produced and hosted by Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner. Jimmy Kimmel is the show’s host, and its head writer Molly McNearney (who also happens to be his wife) will serve as an executive producer on the show. Producers will continue to announce more talent until the 95th Academy Awards finally takes place on Sunday, March 12.
